7 Things i learnt from University | How I survived it.

Here's some advises I think it should be useful for some of the newly enrolled students. Its new intakes again in Septembers. and it's time for me to say hello to working world soon.

NUMBER 1 :

Always find the right homies, someone who you'll be trusting and go all crazy with

yes. those years will be hard if you're lonely, or living in your own universe - then it will be hard to survive. who am i kidding! this is the real important one of all actually. cause its the one that keeps you moving! everyone needs atleast a friend/gang.

super grateful to have a few great people throughout my university days. life is a lot more complete that way, and remember, its okay to have a few. most of the time, through the years, you'd see who's the real friends that stick by your side, and some who are just well.. goes. i had my fair share of disappointment and realization. but..

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. (:

NUMBER 2 :

The right assignment team to save you from hell

being in 3 years course. 6 semester was considered. how should i put this. there were times i think sleeping partners deserves so many slaps in their faces and that i think i have lost count puking blood out of insanity and have given up.

but atleast i had a few team members i could rely on. which we both shared burdens puking blood and wanting to slap sleeping partners. HAHAHAHA. so choose wisely. seriously - wisely. not because their your friends or because they are the cool kids, although i know its hard. BUT IF YOU COULDN'T REFUSE THE OFFER BY A SLACKER ( base on experience, cough )- get a reliable, responsible and strict person in the team as well to counter it. and indirectly kick them to work.

NUMBER 3 :

Go travel to nearby places as much as you can - utilize the perks

If you're lucky to be at a border of countries, like me. BY ALL MEANS. VISIT IT. This is one of the best perks i enjoy as a University student, we can run away for short escapes and see the world and be back for stress again the next days. See the world and enjoy the differences.

that little short getaway is amazing experience as you run away from stress and pressure.
well. just have fun!

NUMBER 4 :

Improvised skills in cooking. literally.

you'd learn to cook with an iron, a kettle and all sorts. IM KIDDING. but kettle is did in fact what we've tried once, to boil eggs. we were that desperate. due to no cooking policies in hostels for safety reasons. you'd also learn how to cook everything anything in a rice cooker too!

cause living by cafeteria food, we'd die. and be broke. while we can't feed ourselves daily with oat drinks and instant oats and anything instant. yes. cooking up something yourself with anything you find would be a skill you'd learn along up till graduation.

NUMBER 5 :

Realizing not everyone is what they seem to be.

its life. there will be fake masks around. but its okay, learn to get over it and move on. Well, its part of society to network, but you'd see alot of people. different types. and we grow through them. But hey, don't go rage mode just because they are fake. it's just how people are and as an advice, treat them as acquaintance and network. be nice and they will be nice- if they treat you badly, then just ignore i guess. NEVER STOOP DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL, THEY'LL KILL YOU WITH THAT THEIR BEST AT. a saying i held dearly to survive.

but generally, you'd see lazy people, snobbish people, 2-faces, and a lot more.
prepares you for life in the real world. so its okay. learning to identify is what you'd learn.

NUMBER 6 :

Independence

i learnt to be thrifty, to plan to do, and survive away from home. because flights are really expensive and it seems impossible to fly home for mid-semester breaks, i learnt to plan expenses to a minimum of RM300 a month, if i have leftover, i can use it for the next month or visit the most best places nearby!

being away from home, you'd learn to shake of homesick - call often. skype.
other than that, you'd develop soft skills to live alone and be responsible.

NUMBER 7 :

Have a Crush? Don't Just Stand There. Do something.

alot of my cousins told me most of the time we'd meet our 'the one' in Universities/College or where-ever you pursue in studying. because chances are, those are the people you'd see for 3-4 years and of the same generation or even share common interests. who knows? they could be the one. other than that would just be really FATE that you'd meet somewhere unexpected, like all the love stories we girls read alot about. HAAHAA bus stations/ cafes/ accidental incidents & etc.

cause I found mine in University, Oddly but strangely it happened. Now, i wonder if he's the one. :)

That's all!
i hope it helps! its more personal than it is. but hey, these tips might just be the ones you need to live your life more smoothly.

till next next magical day,
wan
